A need felt across the American market. A sister-company engineering team. One heavy-duty machine that didn’t exist before.
At OAKLEY INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY, we work with heating element manufacturers across the Americas every day. And over the past few years, one request kept coming up: customers needed to reduce the diameter of heating elements well beyond standard sizes, with wall thicknesses that put serious mechanical stress on standard equipment. Nothing on the market was built to handle it reliably.
So, we built something new.
A Problem Only the American Market Could Show Us
Being on the ground across this region gives us an edge that matters: we see production needs before they become industry trends. Large-diameter heating elements show up far more often in American manufacturing than in Europe, and one long-standing customer brought us a specific, demanding request: reduce the diameter of oversized elements without sacrificing wall thickness, straightness, or throughput.
That’s not a tweak to existing tooling. That’s a different machine.
Bringing In CSM MACHINERY’s Engineering Muscle
This is where being part of CSM GROUP made all the difference. Rather than outsourcing the problem or settling for a compromise, we brought it straight to our sister company, CSM MACHINERY, whose engineering team has spent over 45 years designing rolling mills for heating element.
We knew the market. They knew how to engineer for it. That combination is what turned a customer request into a real product: the XLO 24-station heavy-duty reduction rolling mill.
This isn’t a bigger version of an existing machine — it’s a ground-up redesign. Every structural component, from the base to the rolling head, was resized to absorb the mechanical loads that come with rolling oversized, thick-walled elements continuously, day after day.
What the XLO Delivers on the Shop Floor
Higher reduction, no compromise on quality
The 24-station configuration achieves up to 49% area reduction — even on wall thicknesses above the standard .059” (1.5 mm) — while keeping the coil perfectly centered through every compression stage.
Straight elements, every time
A nozzle-based cooling and lubrication system dissipates heat efficiently during high-stress processing, so output elements come out straight, not warped.
Built for continuous heavy-duty cycles
A fully redesigned structure and constant roller lubrication let the XLO handle a wider range of input diameters and higher compression ratios without breaking down under repeated mechanical stress.
Real-time process control
Integrated diameter and length measuring systems, paired with an onboard data collection platform, give operators full visibility into every stage of the process — right from the control panel.
Why This Matters for Heating Element Manufacturers
If your production line has been limited by standard-size tooling, or you’ve had to turn away orders for oversized heating elements, the XLO changes that equation.
That’s the advantage of being part of CSM GROUP: local market knowledge here at Oakley, backed by decades of mechanical engineering expertise from CSM MACHINERY, working as one team toward the same solution.
