End-finishing and Tapering Machine for Defrost Heating Elements

Get your defrost heating elements ready for vulcanization in a single automated pass. This in-line transfer system measures, trims, stretches, tapers, tests and marks each element up to 276″ (7,000 mm) long, so you move straight from reducing mill to assembly with no manual handling in between.

Built for producers of finned heat exchangers and tube bundle heat exchangers, this system helps you hit tight dimensional tolerances on every piece, run after run, while cutting the labor and rework that come with manual end finishing.

Advantages

The concrete advantages that make the difference

Handle extra-long elements without losing precision

Long parts are usually where accuracy slips. Here, elements up to 7 meters come out straight and dimensionally consistent, run after run, so you’re not stopping the line to sort out warped or off-spec pieces.

Get both ends ready for sealing, automatically

Your ends are tapered and prepped for vulcanized rubber seals as part of the same cycle, giving you a tighter, more reliable bond between heating element and power lead — without a separate finishing step.

Ship with confidence, not guesswork

Every element is electrically tested and laser marked before it leaves the line. You get built-in traceability and documented compliance, so quality checks happen automatically instead of adding time to your process.

Details

This system takes your heating elements from raw output off the reducing mill to ready-for-vulcanization parts, in one continuous, automated flow. Each element moves through a series of synchronized stations, so you get consistent results without operators handling parts between steps.

Here’s what happens along the way:

  • Measuring and centering — each part is measured and positioned automatically, so downstream stations always work from an accurate reference point.
  • Plug removal — the plastic filling plug is extracted automatically, with integrated preheating to handle threaded or tightly fitted plugs without damage.
  • Terminal pin cutting — pins are trimmed to the exact length you need, keeping every element within spec.
  • Stretching — each element is stretched to its final calibrated length, giving you straightness and dimensional accuracy you can count on.
  • End tapering — both ends are tapered to prepare a clean surface for vulcanized rubber seals, so the connection to the lead wire holds up over time.
  • Electrical testing — every finished element is tested before moving on, so compliance is verified before it reaches your next process step.
  • Laser marking — permanent marking with text, QR, or Data Matrix codes gives you full traceability across the product’s life.

The result: fewer manual steps, tighter tolerances, and finished elements that are ready for vulcanization the moment they leave the line.
